- Position: Clinical Supporting Documentation Specialist
- Location: Houston, TX
- Hours: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm
THE POSITION:
The Clinical Supporting Document Specialist coordinates tasks specific to clinical and administrative support, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant documentation for Infusion. This role maintains supporting documentation databases, manages insurance and physician orders, and provides operational support to clinical areas to promote seamless care delivery and regulatory compliance.
- Documentation & Records
- Maintain supporting documentation and assure up-to-date benefit and insurance information.
- Obtain and manage prior authorizations required by payers.
- Obtain physician orders and maintain ongoing database of prescriber documentation.
- Create, update, and maintain accurate electronic medical records (EHR).
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and PHS requirements regarding EMR access.
- Clinical Support
- Provide administrative support to Infusion team.
- Assist with scheduling and coordination of clinical visits and outsourced services if needed.
- Coordinate interpreter services as needed.
- Back up to Infusion Intake and Admissions Representative
- Communication & Coordination:
- Collaborate with clinics, prescribers, referral sources, service agencies, and internal staff.
- Provide ongoing communication and resolution of patient and staff issues.
- Participate in department and company meetings.
- Compliance & Quality Improvement:
- Collect, record, and analyze data for audits and quality improvement initiatives.
- Compose and maintain policies, work instructions, and training aids.
- Support billing by ensuring complete and accurate documentation.
- Other duties as assigned
THE QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or GED required; One year of related experience/training preferred (intake, documentation or clinical support); Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Durable medical equipment (DME) intake/ admissions experience preferred
- Exceptionally organized, multi-tasking, problem solving and communication and strong keyboard skills. A high level of initiative combined with a customer service mentality is also required.
- Experience in Brightree and/or CareTrend
- Experience in obtaining title 19 with health care providers
